What is Cappies? It is a high school critic review/award program. It was first established on the Capital Steps in Washington DC to promote and applaud high school theatre.

Pacifica has been a part of the Orange County Cappies since its Orange County inception in 2003. Since then we have gone on to win awards in acting and review writing, we have seen hundreds of shows and written hundreds of reviews.

A Cappie Critic is trained in high school theatre review writing. Our goal is to "celebrate high school theatre." Each critic is required to see at least 6 shows (some have seen as many as 25) and write a review. Each review is eligible to be published in the Orange County Register. We have had several reviews chosen in the past!! The shows are at high school theatres in Orange County. Currently there are 26 schools participating in the Orange County program. Last year alone there were over 1200 reviews written from 28 participating schools. (Over 56 shows eligible for voting) For a list of the participating schools, click on the link below.

At the end of the season a "Gala" is held at The Grove in Anaheim, a Tony award like program where the student critics and actors are up for awards in acting, tech and writing categories.
